“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
GENESIS 3:15
I. THE PROMISE
Judgement falls in Eden — yet mercy speaks. God puts enmity between the woman’s seed (the coming Christ) and Satan.
Notice: the initiative is God’s. “I will put enmity.” It is God declaring war on the devil for His people’s sake. The bruise to the heel is real — yet not fatal. The bruise to the head is decisive — the cross and empty tomb crush the serpent’s power. Though Satan may nip at your feet with many problems, you shall indeed crush his head in Christ. The promise still stands: the serpent does not get the last word over your life, God does…it shall bruise thy head!
II. REST IN IT
When the serpent hisses, rest in this: You do not fight for victory as if the outcome were unsure. God prophesied — you shall bruise Satan’s head. You stand in a victory already spoken. Resist the devil. The head is crushed; the heel may ache — but the war’s end was announced in Genesis. There is dual promise here, both you will crush his head over and over in Christ.
III. PRAY IT
Father, I thank You for Jesus, who fulfilled that word at the cross. Put holy enmity in me toward every work of the enemy, and let me walk in the victory of Your Son. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
